Welcome to Richmond Dales Amateur Swimming Club

The ‘Dales Swimming Club’ started on April 1st 1976. When swimmers began to take part in Northumberland and Durham Championships and League competitions, the name was changed to Richmond Dales, to identify its base.

The Club now works to the ASA swim programme and is, once again, working towards Swim 21 recognition.

Over the last 20 years the club has been extremely successful, producing many County and Regional champions, medallists and finalists. The most notable of our ex-swimmers are Nicola and Joanne Jackson, both competing in Olympic events.

The club has continued to develop and increase its training time. It now uses both Richmond Pool and the new facility at Catterick Garrison.

It continues to produce many County and Regional champions, and National age group and youth qualifiers and finalists.

In 2014 at the North East Region Age Group Championships swimmers won 13 medals in total and qualified for many finals.

Three swimmers were selected to represent the North East Region Team at the English Schools Swimming Association Championships, 2 won individual medals and all three won medals as part of their respective relay teams. The North East Region Team became team champions.

Whilst the club continues to change and develop, its primary aim of ‘providing the optimum training environment to allow every swimmer to achieve their potential’ remains the driving force. The club strive to produce talented and committed athletes who can make their presence felt at every level within the swimming community.
